Role:
Demonstrate CVCU Culture and Values while supporting the full operational lifecycle of consumer secured and unsecured loans from origination to post-closing. This includes performing in-depth analysis and ensuring smooth coordination across all stages of the lending process. Review and implement appropriate process workflows and reporting that keep loans compliant, efficient, and within lending guidelines. Serve as a critical analyst liaison between lenders and Backoffice departments (i.e. Loan Operations, Compliance, Audit and Learning & Development) to identify, triage, resolve operational issues and develop training for the consumer lending program. Serve as loan analyst backup to Commercial/Real Estate loan processing. This role does not involve credit approval or underwriting. Expected to understand and comply with job related regulatory requirements including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and Fair Lending Regulations.
Job Description:
Loan Booking & Funding
- Ensure timely and accurate booking of all loan transactions in the Credit Union’s loan system.
- Review approved consumer loans for completeness and accuracy prior to booking.
- Book loans to the core system in accordance with approved terms and conditions
- Coordinate and execute loan funding, ensuring all pre-funding requirements are met.
- Resolve booking or funding discrepancies in collaboration with lending, branches, and vendors.
- Perform detailed post-closing reviews of consumer loan files to confirm proper documentation.
- Ensure loan documents are executed correctly and retained in accordance with recordkeeping standards.
- Identify documentation discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with relevant teams.
- Ensure that loan funds are disbursed accurately according to the approved loan agreement and disbursement instructions.
- Transfer funds to the appropriate borrower accounts, third-party vendors, or other designated recipients as specified in the disbursement schedule.
Loan Review & Documentation
- Conduct detailed reviews of loan agreements, amendments, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with credit approvals, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, or errors in loan documentation and coordinate corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing loan review reports for management and auditors.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in lending regulations and market practices.
Collateral, Title & Lien Perfection
- Prepare titles for lien perfection and ensure lien is perfected for both titled and non-titled collateral.
- Coordinate lien recording, title work, and collateral perfection for secured consumer loans.
- Monitor lien status and follow up on outstanding title or filing issues.
- Ensure liens are perfected timely and accurately to protect the institutions’ security interest.
Operational & Consumer Lending Support
- Mentor and support lending staff by providing subject-matter expertise in loan structures, funding processes, and answering consumer loan questions, including both commercial and consumer loan products.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Consumer Lending and Learning & Development, collaborating to design and deliver effective training programs for front-line lenders.
- Analyze and process consumer non-RE loan requests in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Verify borrower information, including financial statements, credit reports, collateral documentation, and legal entity structures.
- Process and review loan packages for compliance and completeness.
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and legal counsel to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
- Maintain accurate loan data in systems.
- Assist with preparation of critical loan documents (titles, UCC filings, and insurance).
- Monitor loan covenants, maturities, and borrower financial reporting requirements.
- Provide post-closing support, including document imaging, audit support, and ongoing loan servicing tasks.
- Serve as backup for Commercial/RE loan booking, funding, title perfecting, deed recording, and regulatory reporting (e.g., HMDA, GRMA, SBA).
Compliance, Training & Process Improvement
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state lending laws and internal policies.
- Support audits, internal reviews, and quality control processes related to consumer and commercial loan files.
- Recommend and support implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and the member experience.
- Act as a liaison between front-line staff and Learning & Development, helping to identify operational pain points and translating them into training opportunities.
- Assist in the design and delivery of training programs related to consumer & commercial lending operations, documentation, and title review.
- Develop training content, case studies, and tools to strengthen lender understanding of real estate fundamentals, risk analysis, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and support lending staff by providing subject-matter expertise and answering real estate-related questions.
- Document procedures and maintain up to date operational manuals.
- Develop and maintain appropriate records retention processing for consumer loans.
- Various duties as assigned, including attending organization functions and business development events.
